Beginning in 2018, as Cauca cocoa farmers in Colombia shifted to other types of crops as a basis for their personal income, various initiatives were launched aimed at strengthening cacao cultivation. Through public-private inter-institutional partnerships involving entities such as SENA (National Secretariat of Agriculture), the Cauca Governor’s Office, the Illicit Crop Substitution Program, and the Cauca Chamber of Commerce, a strategy was launched to improve harvests and marketing, focusing on processes and decisive commitments to generating a value chain. Thus, Cauca es Cacao was born.
